Air Gun Benchrest

Capitol City Rifle & Pistol Club will add a new discipline this summer to it's repertoire of Benchrest events, Airgun Benchrest.  Airgun Benchrest is the newest and fastest growing Benchrest Sport in the world.

Last summer the World Championship Matches for Rimfire and Air Rifles was held in Georgia, USA.  Americans did very well in these events with Todd Banks from Salem, New York winning the Overall Air Rifle Tourmament Aggregate.  This event has spawned a great deal of activity and many people have become interested in participating in Airgun Benchrest.

There are several reasons for this new interest in Benchrest Airguns.  One is the relatively low cost of pellets in comparison to other ammunition necessary with the other Rifle Sports.  Another is the relative ease in finding a location to practice and shoot, not located at a rifle range.  Another is the challengeo of shooting rifles that are, while very accurate, not east to score perfect scores with.

We will offer three Registered Matches this summer for those who are interested in either participating or observing.  There will be a class for Production Rifles and three other classes as outlined in the World Air Rifle Organization Web site on Benchrest Central.  If there is sufficient interest in these mathes we will continue to offer them and perhaps more of them next season.

Airgun Benchrest is super fun and a great way to shoot Benchrest more economically.

sincerely,

Peter Wass, Benchrest Match Director
